The proposed Women’s Professional Basketball League, scheduled to open play in Los Angeles and at least five other cities in April, is expected to confirm at leas two additional franchises at a meeting Saturday in Chicago.
The league has confirmed teams in Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore, New Jersey, Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla., and Columbus, Ohio. Other cities being considered for franchises are San Francisco, Austin, Tex., Jackson, Miss., Mobile, Ala., and Nashville, Tenn.
