Placentia : Plan for Parking Lot at Kraemer Jr. High OK’d

Share

Seeking to alleviate parking problems caused by athletic events at Kraemer Junior High School, the City Council has approved plans for a $141,000 parking lot on North Angelina Street.

The lot, on land west of Kraemer Boulevard and north of Chapman Avenue, would provide space for 55 to 60 vehicles. Money from a park development account will pay for the lot, which will be owned by the Kraemer Junior High School Athletic Facility.

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Councilwoman Maria Moreno said the school district should share the financial burden, but Mayor pro Tem Norman Z. Eckenrode said the district had already done so by providing land for the lot, valued at about $600,000.

“Due to the immense popularity of extracurricular athletic programs that are city, and not school, events, I see this as an entirely different issue,” Eckenrode said.

Construction is scheduled to begin in January.
