NATION : Rockwell Sues U.S. Over Contract
From Times wire services
DENVER —
Rockwell International Corp. today sued the government, alleging that its contract to run the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant requires the company to violate federal hazardous-waste laws.
The lawsuit was filed in Washington in an attempt to get a court to clarify Rockwell’s obligations under the contract.
Rockwell said it was forced to sue because it feared that it would be charged with criminal offenses for its running of the plant near Denver. The plant makes plutonium triggers for nuclear weapons.
