Control Data Corp. Chairman Robert M. Price, facing criticism about the struggling computer company’s management, said Friday that he will relinquish his duties as chief executive.
Price said a search committee has been set up to find the person who will take over those duties. Price, 57, will remain chairman, a post he has held since January, 1986.
The search committee, which is expected to find a successor to Price within two to three months, will be headed by Albert Etchelecu, an outside director. Etchelecu said there are strong candidates within the Minneapolis company, most notably Lawrence Perlman, president and chief operating officer.
