The critically acclaimed Mark Taper Forum’s Improvisational Theater Project (ITP) was the only American theater company asked to perform in the International Assn. of Theater for Children and Youth Festival in Rostov-upon-Don, U.S.S.R. The ITP company will perform “One Thousand Cranes” by Colin Thomas. The play, about the youth of America and Japan and their wish for world peace, addresses the horrors of nuclear war. It was originally produced by the Mark Taper Forum in 1987 and toured in Munich and Vienna in 1988. The Taper production will feature the original cast, which includes John Allee, Rosie Lee Hooks, Karen Maruyama and Miho. ITP joins seven other companies from Europe and Asia at the Soviet festival, to be held Oct. 9-21.
