Azusa : General Plan Item Put Off
The Azusa City Council has postponed a decision on a change to the city’s General Plan that would pave the way for construction of 67 single-family homes on nine acres by developer Johnny Johnson.
Johnson, owner of the Azusa Greens Country Club, has tried for four years to get city approval for a residential development. In 1987 city residents voted down an initiative that would have rezoned the golf course to permit development, and in 1988 they voted to keep the zoning on the course recreational. But a court ruling exempted a nine-acre parcel from provisions of the 1988 election.
The council is scheduled to address the amendment at its Oct. 16 meeting.
