Irvine : Five Russian Scientists Schedule Visit to UCI

Five members of the Academy of Sciences in Moscow will visit UC Irvine begining today in the only West Coast university stop in a U.S.-Soviet exchange program.

The exchange, sponsored by the American Philosophical Assn., will include informal meetings with philosophers from several Southern California universities at UCI and presentations to students in UCI classes.

As part of the four-day visit, Vladimir Mshvenierdze, deputy director of the Soviet academy, will speak on “Ethics and International Cooperation” at 3:30 p.m. in Room 640 in the Social Sciences Tower. The talk is sponsored by UCI’s philosophy department and the university’s Global Peace and Conflict Studies.
