Bush Chooses Two for Ambassadorships
President Bush announced Thursday that he would nominate career Foreign Service officer Cresencio Arcos as ambassador to Honduras and Francis McNamara as ambassador to Cape Verde.
Arcos, if confirmed by the Senate, would succeed Everett Briggs. Arcos has served as deputy assistant secretary of state since 1988, and previously held diplomatic jobs in Honduras, the Soviet Union, Brazil and Portugal.
McNamara, who would succeed Vernon Penner Jr., is a senior research fellow at the National Defense University. He has served as ambassador to Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe.
