From Times wire services

The judge in the marathon McMartin preschool molestation trial today decided not to sequester the jury during deliberations which he believes could take as long as two months.

“He feels that it would be too much of a hardship on the jurors,” said Deputy Dist. Atty. Lael Rubin, who participated in discussions with Superior Court Judge William R. Pounders about sequestering the panel.

Pounders had considered housing the jurors at a hotel while they pondered their decision in the 2 1/2-year-old trial.
