NATION : President ‘in a Great Mood’ After Surgeons Remove Cyst From Finger
President Bush emerged today from surgery to remove a cyst on his right middle finger “in a great mood,” according to an aide.
Bush was operated on as an outpatient at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for removal of the cyst, which has troubled him for several years. He was given a local anesthetic.
“He was in a great mood,” White House spokesman Jay Allison told reporters following the surgery, adding that the President was “talking and laughing with the doctors.”
Bush arrived by helicopter, smiling, waving at reporters and holding up the hand on which the surgery was to be performed.
After the surgery, Bush left for a three-day Columbus Day weekend at Camp David, Md., that will be interrupted by a trip to Baltimore on Sunday to address a group of Republican women. He returns to the White House on Monday afternoon.
