Interpreting 2nd Amendment: Restricting Gun Ownership

Share

I am not a member of the National Rifle Assn. I am definitely not a member of “a small band of zealots.” I do own a gun. My husband is gone for months at a time because of his job. There is no way I would be safe with only a knife (or ax) to protect me. I am a strong woman, but, let’s face it, my strength is far inferior to a man’s.

If a male person were to invade my home, chances are excellent that he would be armed. My chances of survival would be substantially greater if I, also, were armed. With a knife at my side, I would have to get pretty close to the guy before I could do any damage that might scare him off. Let’s be realistic; if I get that close to him, he’s going to take my knife/ax away and use it against me. A gun, on the other hand . . . My parents raised me to be “safe, rather than sorry.”

The “bad guys” will always be able to get weapons. You better believe I’m going to keep mine. It is my right.
