Holiday Inns is offering a Fall Great Rates program that’s good until Dec. 30. It reduces room rates to $29, $39, $49 or $59, depending upon the hotel.

Between 900 and 1,000 inns in the United States and Mexico, including Holiday Inns Crowne Plaza Hotels, are participating.

Reduced rates are only available Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Some hotels also may have blackout periods.

Bookings made with a Sears Discovery Card will yield a bonus coupon for each night. Each coupon is worth $10 off future stays at a Holiday Inn.

Although room capacity is determined by the individual hotel, four people to a room is the usual maximum.

The chain also is continuing its regular Great Rates program that offers at least a 20% discount off standard rates.

This program is available seven days a week.

Hotels, however, aren’t offering both programs simultaneously. Find out which a hotel is offering by contacting travel agents or Holiday Inn toll-free at (800) HOLIDAY.

Meanwhile, Hospitality Inns, a new San Diego-based chain, has opened three hotels in the San Diego area, all offering introductory rates until Dec. 1. The inns are in Escondido near the San Diego Wild Animal Park, El Cajon and Mission Bay.

Rates at the El Cajon and Escondido inns are $29.95 to $44.95, while the Mission Bay inn is $59 to $89. Rates are based on the first person occupying the room. Additional guests are charged $5 per person, with up to a maximum of five people in the room. Children under 12 stay free.

Thus a family of four, with two children older than 12 years, could get a room at the Escondido and El Cajon inns for $44.95 to $59.95 and $74 to $104 at Mission Bay.

The rates include a full breakfast for each guest, free local phone calls, use of hotel pools/spas/saunas, complimentary use of nearby health clubs/gyms and a packet of discount coupons to sightseeing attractions such as Sea World, San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park.
