Lynwood : Nun Run to Raise Money for Medical Care of Needy

Share

Nuns in their habits and jogging shoes will join other runners Saturday for the sixth annual St. Francis Medical Center’s Nun Run and 5-K individual run in Lynwood Park.

The event, which is to raise money to help poor children and their families who receive medical services at the Catholic hospital, raised more than $30,000 last year. This year’s event is expected to raise about the same amount.

Nuns will put on their sneakers and race around Lynwood Park with hundreds of other runners who will donate money to participate in the run. Entrants can walk, jog or run as many laps as possible within one hour’s time around the 1-K Nun Run course.

Serious runners may register for a 5-K course, which will be run through residential streets of the city.

The entry fee for the 5-K run is $15. For the Nun Run, a minimum of $20 must be pledged.

Former Los Angeles Rams quarterback Vince Ferragamo is the honorary chairman of the event.
