If He Quit, Why Severance Pay?

Share

Why is the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District school board negotiating a severance pay agreement with former superintendent Jack Price, if he resigned? An employee that resigns of his own free will does not get severance pay. If the school board wants to use public funds to give to Jack Price, they must first admit that he was asked to resign.

The public deserves a full explanation of the facts. To pretend that Jack Price resigned because of his recommendation to close Miraleste is an insult to the intelligence of the public.

Did the school board ask the superintendent to resign because of the financial irregularities discovered on the sale of the Peninsula High site, waivers of developer fees and Jack Price’s post-dated check? Or was it the public disclosure of these facts in recent newspaper articles that prompted his exit?

School board elections are less than a month away: Did Jack Price become a “political liability” to Jeff Younggren and Marlys Kinnel, who are trying to get reelected?

A responsible school board trustee would have investigated the allegations made in the taxpayers’ lawsuit, corrected the financial irregularities of the past administration and informed the public, instead of trying to cover up the facts.
