In Control of Snails

As a regular reader of the gardening section, I have seen many articles on snail control. However, none has ever mentioned the procedure I use, which I have found to be extremely successful. Therefore, I am writing to you and thought perhaps you might like to share it with your readers.

I have ivy growing on my terrace and an English garden planted in a raised-brick planter nearby. Every year in January or February, I have the ivy cut all the way back. I wet down the terrace and scatter Thats It snail bail.

Then, at the end of March and the beginning of April, I go out early in the morning for what I call my “Baby Snail Watch” and using a plastic bag, I scoop up the baby snails and slugs that appear on the new ivy leaves. I do this two to three days in a row for two to three weeks. And after that, I am through with snail problems for the rest of the year.

As a precaution, I do shake Thats It around the base of the planter, but since I started this procedure, I have never found a snail in the planter and only one slug! And my ivy leave are no longer full of snail holes.
