Commercial signs will be the topic at two city council meetings this week. In Brea, the council will consider requiring those who wish to place a sign on private property to submit a proposal to the planning commission for evaluation. City officials say they wish to strike some middle ground between business owners’ access to advertising and excessive, bulky signs. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers. In Garden Grove, the council will consider a proposal that all commercial signs have at least some English on them. The plan has already been approved by the city’s planning commission. The council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the council chambers.
