Drexler Scores 24 to Lead Trail Blazers to 111-107 Victory Over the Clippers

Clyde Drexler scored 24 points and Kevin Duckworth added 21 to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 111-107 victory over the Clippers in a National Basketball Assn. exhibition game Saturday night before an estimated crowd of 2,200 at Medford, Ore.

The Clippers, who opened their seven-game exhibition schedule with a win Thursday, got 23 points from Charles Smith.

Carlton McKinney and Michael Young added 14 each off the bench.

Portland led by 20 points at the end of the first quarter, 40-20, and 58-48 at halftime.

But the Clippers, outscoring the Trail Blazers, 34-25, in the fourth, pulled to within 103-99 with three minutes to play.

The teams meet again tonight at Coos Bay, Ore.
