ON THE SIDELINES : Grentz ’90 Goodwill Team Coach
Rutgers women’s coach, Theresa Grentz, has been selected to coach the USA Women’s Basketball Team for the 1990 world championship and the Goodwill Games.
The world championship is scheduled for July 11 to 22 in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, and will be followed by the Goodwill Games in Seattle July 31 to Aug. 5.
Grentz ranks as the 10th winningest active Division I basketball coach with 336 victories over 15 seasons. She has led Rutgers to 13 straight winning seasons, four consecutive NCAA tournament berths and the 1982 AIAW national championship.
This summer, Grentz coached the U.S. team in a four-game tour against the Canadian National Team. She also coached the U.S. Select team to a gold medal in the 1985 R. William Jones Cup Tournament in Taiwan.
