WORLD IN BRIEF : BRITAIN : Waldheim Cleared in War-Crimes Case

The British Defense Ministry cleared Austrian President Kurt Waldheim of allegations that he was involved in the execution of six British prisoners of war in Greece while serving as a German army officer. Armed Forces Minister Archie Hamilton told Parliament that investigators examined thousands of documents provided by the United States, West Germany and Greece.
