Jaguar Hopes to Announce GM Deal: The British luxury car maker Jaguar PLC said it hopes to announce within a month an agreement with General Motors Corp. under which the U.S. auto maker would buy a minority stake in Jaguar. Jaguar has negotiated with GM for several weeks over a possible cooperation agreement that might thwart a potential buyout bid for the British firm by Ford Motor Co. “Providing the discussions continue to go well and are successful, I would be disappointed if we could not be in the position to put something to our shareholders in the next month,” Jaguar Chairman John Egan said. Jaguar has said it is not interested in being taken over by Ford or any other car maker.
