Medal of Honor recipient Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.) and two other Vietnam veterans in the Senate spoke out against amending the Constitution to ban desecration of the American flag. Kerrey and Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) cited their war experiences in announcing that they will vote against the amendment, which is backed by President Bush but is expected to fall short of the two-thirds support needed for Senate approval.
