Fashion Show to Benefit World Children’s Transplant Fund

Share

“Passion for Fashion” will be the theme for a fashion show to be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the China Club in Hollywood as a benefit for the World Children’s Transplant Fund.

Lorenzo Lamas will host the event, which will include entertainment by Scott Page of Pink Floyd and Kenny Lee Lewis of the Steve Miller Band.

The transplant fund was born of efforts by Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Mark Kroeker and others to save the life of Veronica Arguello, a 12-year-old Argentine child with a congenital liver disorder. They formed a support network to bring her to the United States for the liver transplant that was not available in Argentina.

Though the surgery was unsuccessful, Veronica’s death inspired Kroeker to launch a crusade to make organ transplants accessible in the underdeveloped world to all children in need. These efforts include training for medical staff, development of sophisticated technology for hospitals and, ultimately, establishment of a World Children’s Transplant Network.
