Picture Language

I enjoyed reading “Picture Perfect? Ex-Waiter Says His Symbols Can Serve as Universal Language” (Metro, Oct. 7) but the experts who commented on it puzzle me.

On the one hand, they find the instant universal language good, thorough, thoughtful, simple and root for it; on the other hand, they maintain that its chances of succeeding are rather poor. That beats me.
