NEW YORK — Adnan Khashoggi, the indicted Saudi arms dealer and financier who was ordered confined to his apartment on $10-million bail, has been granted a visit to California that his lawyer calls “part business, part pleasure.”
While in California, Khashoggi’s movements will continue to be monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet as ordered by U.S. District Judge John Keenan.
The trip is an exception to travel restrictions attached to his release on bail while he awaits a March trial on charges he helped the late ousted Philippines President Ferdinand E. Marcos and his wife, Imelda, defraud their national treasury.
Khashoggi’s itinerary includes eight nights, starting Friday, at the exclusive Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and five nights at the home of his brother, Essam Khashoggi, in Santa Barbara.
