Thieves Crash Car Through Store Window, Steal Furs
United Press International
NEW YORK —
Three thieves--one wearing a mask of the Joker in the “Batman” movie--crashed a car through a furrier’s plate-glass window Thursday and cleaned out the shop, authorities said.
Police said they received telephoned reports of phony crimes in the area to divert police away from the Jindo furs store. They said they were told the men were carrying radio scanners--presumably to eavesdrop on police dispatchers.
The thieves left the vehicle sitting in the furrier’s smashed window and fled, police said.
