Datron Systems Shows 16% Hike in Earnings
Datron Systems, a Simi Valley communications and defense electronics company, reported that in the fiscal second quarter that ended Sept. 30 it earned $1 million, a 16% increase from $880,000 in net income a year earlier. Revenue rose 20% to $10.6 million from $8.9 million.
David A. Derby, Datron’s president and chief executive, attributed the improved results to the company’s diversification during the past few years, which has lessened its dependence on orders from the military.
In the six months that ended in September, Datron earned $1.9 million, up 30% from $1.5 million a year earlier. Revenue gained 28% to $21.2 million from $16.6 million.
