Judge Evicts Own Court for Being a Public Nuisance
A state judge ordered himself and the rest of the Superior Court evicted from the Town Hall because of complaints that people on court business littered, damaged the building and took up parking space.
Judge Michael Conway on Monday entered a judgment that will require the state to find a new home for Superior Court.
The court, which handles misdemeanor cases and motor vehicle and housing complaints, has occupied the second floor of Killingly Town Hall for about 20 years, paying $25,000 a year rent for the last seven years.
“We just want ‘em out of there,” said Donald F. Costello, chairman of the Town Council, which voted last year to ask the state to move the court.
