University High School Winners: “Drugs: A Poor Investment,” a 30-second public service script created by two University High School students, is the winning entry in the third annual Scott Newman Center “Prevent Substance Abuse” writing competition. In their spot, David Horvath, 18, and Richard Lee, 16, show a bag of cocaine falling to the ground as a voice says it’s valued at $12,000. A hand is then seen zipping up a body bag “which costs about $4.25--not a very good investment,” says the script. The two local teens won out over 3,000 students from California, Alaska, Hawaii, Florida and New Jersey. The non-profit Newman Center was formed by actor Paul Newman and friends after the drug-related death of Newman’s son in 1980.
