Pico Rivera : Teachers Picket El Rancho District for 10% Pay Raise

Share

More than 150 teachers and counselors picketed outside the El Rancho Unified School District offices in Pico Rivera after classes earlier this week to pressure officials for a pay increase and better health benefits. Teachers are asking for 10% pay increases this year and next.

The district is offering a 4.64% boost for one year and is seeking to impose a teacher discipline policy. District negotiator John Sherman said, “Teachers have different things that they are requesting and the district is analyzing the budget to see how far they can go to meet the teachers’ request.”

Another negotiating session is scheduled for Friday.
