From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A death sentence was confirmed for Terry Douglas Bemore, a former Palo Alto probationary police officer convicted of the 1985 murder of a San Diego liquor store clerk, who was stabbed 37 times. San Diego Superior Court Judge David Gill followed the recommendation of jurors, who convicted Bemore, 34, of murder under special circumstances--a robbery--in the slaying of Kenneth E. Muck, 55. In calling for Bemore to be executed, Deputy Dist. Atty. Stephen Anear described the 6-foot-6, 230-pound Bemore as “smart, violent” and “one of the most dangerous people I’ve seen in my years in law enforcement.” Bemore was a rookie police officer in the early 1980s, but he failed to make it through his probationary period.
