Change of Plea Bid Rescheduled in Snavely Case

Share

A decision on whether to allow South Gate Councilman Odell L. Snavely to withdraw his no-contest plea to charges that he harbored two teen-age girls at his toy store when they should have been in school has been postponed until Nov. 30.

Municipal Court Commissioner J. Francis Spelman allowed a rescheduling of the plea when the prosecutor, Deputy Dist. Atty. Kenneth Freeman, was unable to be present because he was attending another trial.

Snavely had been scheduled for sentencing Oct. 26. If Snavely is not allowed to change his plea, sentencing is expected to take place Nov. 30. Snavely pleaded no contest in February to two misdemeanor charges of contributing to the truancy of a minor.
