From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The Bush Administration is planning to send Vietnam more than $250,000 worth of government medical equipment from excess and obsolete stock held by federal hospitals. This would mark the first time the United States has offered assistance to the Communist country since the South Vietnamese government fell 14 years ago. Administration officials described the supplies as a “good-will gesture” for Vietnam’s help in accounting for American servicemen still listed as missing there.
