LOCAL : Fog Delays Flights at Wayne
Fog shrouded the runways at John Wayne Airport this morning, delaying 13 flights and forcing cancellation of another bound for Minneapolis.
Bill Pemberton, an airport operations officer, said departures were delayed for about an hour and a half until 8:45 a.m.
In some cases, said airline officials, flights to Orange County were held back in other cities until the fog lifted, but no arriving airliners were diverted to other airports.
Northwest Airlines canceled Flight 112 to Minneapolis, which had been scheduled to depart at 6:50 a.m. with 90 passengers aboard a Boeing 757. The passengers either took later flights or were transferred to other airlines.
