Trans World Airlines: The airline company reported a third-quarter profit of $60.7 million, down sharply from the $141-million profit of a year ago. Revenue was unchanged at $1.3 billion. The Mt. Kisko, N.Y., firm blamed the profit decline in part on the “snapback” of concessions previously granted by the machinists union.

TWA earnings--An item in Friday’s earnings column incorrectly stated the third-quarter results of Trans World Airlines. The airline company reported a net loss of $29.9 million, contrasted with a profit of $88 million in the same period a year ago. Revenue was unchanged at $1.3 billion. The New York-based firm cited increased interest expenses and a non-recurring gain from litigation in the 1988 period.
