‘The Little-Known Killer’ Is Familiar to Some

Share

Linda Roach Monroe’s excellent article, “The Little-Known Killer of Women” (Oct. 31), deals with a familiar topic that has not been dealt with properly by our medical experts.

But while Monroe covered the correlation of natural menopause and heart attacks in women, nothing was discussed about hysterectomies and the onset of instant menopause for women who may be as young as 25.

Considering that more than 800,000 hysterectomies are performed annually, these women are instantly candidates for a coronary event. We need to put pressure on our legislators to finance a definitive study on women’s reproductive systems and their dual, nonreproductive functions.
