Fremont General Corp.: Third-quarter profit rose to $8.9 million, compared to $1.5 million a year ago. Third-quarter 1988 results included a pretax charge of $7 million relating to a re-evaluation of certain corporate investments. Revenue rose 20% to $128 million. Santa Monica-based Fremont General, a holding company engaged in insurance and financial services, said 1989 figures also represent the consolidation of the property and casualty operations of Pacific Compensation Capital Corp., a workers’ compensation insurer.
