Governor Names 8 Judges to Fill Court Vacancies

Gov. George Deukmejian has named eight judges to fill vacancies in four counties, including Los Angeles County.

Three were chosen in Alameda County, two each in San Diego and Los Angeles counties and one in Contra Costa County.

Dino Fulgoni, 55, of Los Angeles was chosen for the Superior Court. He replaces Jack Ryburn, who retired. Fulgoni has been a deputy district attorney since 1962.

Also, Francis Anthony Gately, 48, of Pasadena has been appointed to the Municipal Court bench for the Rio Hondo Judicial District. He replaces J. Michael Byrne, who was elected to Los Angeles Superior Court.

With degrees from Loyola University, Gately has practiced law in El Monte and since 1988 has been a Los Angeles County Municipal Court commissioner.

Named to the San Diego County Superior Court were Raymond Zvetina and Judith Haller, both of La Jolla. Both fill new positions.

Zvetina, 57, has been a partner in a San Diego law firm since 1977. Haller, 43, has been a partner with a San Diego law firm since 1983.

Three Municipal Court judges were selected in Alameda County and one was named to a new position with the Contra Costa County Superior Court.

The annual salary for a Superior Court judge is $89,851. Municipal Court judges receive $82,054 annually.
