Tri-Star took the top spots in the box office for the second weekend in a row with two major success stories. The John Travolta comedy “Look Who’s Talking” grossed $11.4 million for a per-screen average of $6,953. The fall record-breaker has totalled $74.3 million in only five weeks of release and is already the third highest-grossing fall film behind 1986’s “Crocodile Dundee” and 1987’s “Fatal Attraction.” Meanwhile, director Jean-Jacques Annaud’s adventure film “The Bear” fell just 5%, grossing $4.8 million. Universal’s “Dad,” starring Jack Lemmon, expanded from 107 to 1,108 screens and finished third in the box office at $4.5 million.
* Samuel Goldwyn’s “Henry V” grossed a smash $78,025 in only three theaters--in Los Angeles, New York and Toronto. The retelling of Shakespeare’s classic story by British theatrical wunderkind Kenneth Branagh averaged $26,008 per screen.
