AST Models Introduced: AST Research Inc. on Monday introduced three new personal computer models--all powered by the very fast Intel Corp. i486cq microprocessor--at the Comdex trade show in Las Vegas.
The Irvine-based company said the new models all incorporate a new computer design known as Extended Industry Standard Architecture, which is supposed to speed up the transfer of data among computers, printers and attached devices.
AST said the products, which carry price tags of $8,995 to $19,245, will not be available until the first quarter of 1990.
