High School Center Commits to UCLA

Rodney Zimmerman, a 6-foot-10, 215-pound center from Air Force Academy High in Colorado Springs, Colo., has signed a letter of intent with UCLA, basketball Coach Jim Harrick said Monday.

“He has quickness with good size,” Harrick said of Zimmerman, who averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocked shots last season as a junior and last week-end made a recruiting trip to Arizona.

UCLA also hopes to sign Shon Tarver, a 6-4 guard from Santa Clara High in Oxnard, before the early signing period ends tonight.
