The work Andy Warhol did before he became the Andy Warhol in the early 1960s is the subject of an exhibit, “ ‘Success is a Job in New York . . . ‘: The Early Art and Business of Andy Warhol,” at Newport Harbor Art Museum Jan. 21 through Mar. 18. The 194 works include self-portraits, magazine and book illustrations, promotional materials for industry and photographs of window installations Warhol in New York in the ‘50s. The exhibit--named for an article Warhol illustrated in his salad days-- was organized by Grey Art Gallery at New York University and will be sponsored locally by South Coast Plaza.
