Loss of 2 Oaks in ‘Tree City’
Chalk up another casualty of the war Polygon is waging against the environment in the Verdugo Mountains.
Two native oak trees approximately 30 to 50 years old, which are adjacent to the storm drainpipe just installed in the 2600 block of Chevy Chase to service Ranch San Rafael, have died.
All development has impacts, which reach much further than anyone initially projects. I only hope that at the next public hearing at council chambers, which includes discussion of further developments of luxury homes (like the 20 homes on Buckingham Road), neighbors will recall the dead oaks they pass on their way home every day. And I hope that they will take the action necessary to ensure that Glendale remains “Tree City U.S.A.”
