RILEY, Kan. — A member of the girl’s basketball team at Riley County High School collapsed and died during practice Wednesday night.
School Supt. Rob Winter said Natalie Bath, 17, a senior, collapsed during drills in the school gymnasium and died about two hours later at a hospital in nearby Manhattan. Police said CPR was administered at the scene.
Winter said three coaches and other members of the team were in the gym when the girl collapsed. He described the drills as “a regular, normal practice.”
An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
