The favorite will be Here Comes The Band. Owned by Nancy Brookfield and trained by Ward Brookfield, Here Comes The Band has won 4 of 8 starts in her career and $25,314. She is the top qualifier to this race on the basis of a 17.71 time in the 350-yard trial Nov. 7. Prior to that race, she was third against California-bred colts in the Golden West Stakes Oct. 7 and third in the Pacific Handicap against fillies Sept. 22.

Her last win was a neck victory in the Grade III Juvenile Handicap Sept. 1 at Los Alamitos. The filly was bred in California by Claudine Molick.

Sage Amazement was second to Kiptillo Bar in the Golden West Stakes despite being bumped at the start. The filly, who is owned by breeder David S. Plummer, has won 2 of 11 starts this year and $12,544. She is trained by Wayne Thompson and won a division of the futurity trials in 17.90 seconds.

Mother Michelle is another well-accomplished member of the field. The filly was second to Here Comes The Band in the trials after being bumped at the start. She has won 2 of 9 starts this year and $28,622, making her the richest member of this field.
