Memorial services will be Monday for longtime Santa Ana resident John J. Lutz Jr., who held positions with at least 20 major business and community organizations in Orange County.

Lutz, 84, died at his Tustin home Tuesday.

Lutz had been president of the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, Santa Ana YMCA and the city’s Rotary Club, among others.

Lutz was a native of Chicago and moved to Orange County in 1913. He began his 66 years of service with First American Title Insurance Co. in Santa Ana in 1923 when he accepted a job as a company map maker. Lutz was First American’s vice president when he retired on his 75th birthday in 1980.

His retirement was short-lived, as he returned to the company to work four days a week.

“Sixty-six years with the same firm sets him apart from the average employee,” the spokeswoman said. “He was family.”

Lutz is survived by four children and eight grandsons.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana.
