An accountant who prepared federal income tax returns for former Pete Rose associates Thomas Gioiosa, Paul Janszen and Donald Stenger pleaded guilty to having failed to file his own return for 1985.

The Internal Revenue Service had charged in Cincinnati’s U.S. District Court that Joseph B. Mansur’s income in 1985 was at least $26,000. The IRS said Mansour’s income that year was from his accounting business, sales of nutritional products, interest and capital gains.

Mansour faces a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a $25,000 fine. Judge S. Arthur Spiegel did not set a sentencing date. Federal authorities said the law requires Mansour to pay the tax determined to be due, along with penalties, interest and any criminal penalties that are imposed.
