CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Press Aide to Join Timber Industry
Kevin M. Brett, Gov. George Deukmejian’s press secretary, announced that he will resign Dec. 20 to become a timber industry official in Portland, Ore. Brett, 34, has been a spokesman for the governor since Deukmejian first ran for governor in 1982. Deukmejian has announced that he will not seek reelection next year. “I’ve enjoyed every minute of it, but with the governor not running for a third term, I had to start thinking about the future,” Brett said. Brett will join the American Forest Resource Alliance as a regional vice president for public relations. The organization represents the timber industry and promotes its products. Brett said his successor has not been selected by the governor.
