From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The San Francisco-based retail chain reported a net loss of $840,000 in the third quarter, compared to a loss of $233,000 in the year-ago period. Revenue was up 13% to $41.5 million. Results were adversely affected by the San Francisco earthquake on Oct. 17, which caused its toll-free ordering system to be shut down for three days, the company said. In addition, the three San Francisco Bay Area stores were closed for three days and experienced reduced sales in the following weeks.
