Santa Monica : Public Hearing on Housing

Share

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed draft of the city’s housing needs and policies Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in City Council chambers, 1685 Main St.

Under state law, cities are required to update the “housing element” of their General Plan every five years. The housing element is composed of two main sections: an assessment of existing and future housing needs, and a description of policies and programs to address those needs.

Comments from the public hearing will be incorporated into the draft housing element and accompanying environmental impact report and forwarded to the City Council.

Copies of the draft housing element are available for $4.26 at the public counter of the Planning Department, Room 212, City Hall. Copies of the final environmental impact report are available for the same price. Copies of both documents are on file at Santa Monica public libraries.
