At least 14 soccer fans who had climbed onto the roof of a sports complex at Licata, Sicily, to watch a sold-out second division match in the adjacent Licata stadium were injured when part of the roof gave way.

One fan was transferred from Licata to Garibaldi Hospital in Catania with internal injuries. Doctors described his condition as critical.

Officials said the incident occurred when the youths jumped up and down to celebrate a goal by the home team against Torino. Many of the injured suffered broken limbs in the fall from the 39-foot roof.
